1. Contact the Insurance Company
If you have been in an accident and you have decided to proceed with the repairs using an insurance company, contact the “at fault” parties insurance company first. They will help you with the claims process and may direct you to a repair facility to have an estimate completed or have an adjuster meet with you. Insurance companies will have “Preferred” shops to complete estimates, but you do not have to commit to that facility. Once the estimate is complete bring that estimate to us and we will work as your advocate to make sure the car is brought back to factory specifications. We can also complete estimates for certain insurance companies and provide them with a copy and photos.
If no insurance company is involved in the repair choose a shop and have them complete an estimate.
2. Choose an Auto Repair Shop
Nowadays choosing a shop can be less of a hassle. With some research online to limit the choices and by visiting some shops it should be easy to see which shop is the best choice. Body Builders is a member of the Better Business Bureau and we also have ratings on Angie’s List. Another thing you should consider when choosing a shop is how they stand behind their work. Body Builders has a lifetime guarantee on paint and labor and after 24 years in business that is a guarantee you can rely on.
3. Order Parts & Make an Appointment for Repair
Once an estimate has been completed, there will be some repair authorizations required by the State of Florida to complete. These forms are for your protection. They are meant to confirm that you want the shop to order parts, perform the specified repairs, contact you in the event of the finding of additional damages, and allow the shop to operate your vehicle. After signing the authorizations the shop will order the specified parts. Parts generally take 2 to 3 business days to receive depending on the year, make and model of your car. Once parts arrive we will call to schedule at time for repairs.
4. Drop off
On the day of your appointment you will leave your keys with the front office associate and we will contact your rental provider to pick you up or we can offer you a ride.
5. Body Repairs
The body technician will begin the auto body repairs to your vehicle once the vehicle is checked in the shop. The approximate amount of time that the tech will have your vehicle is determined by the estimate and could change depending on the findings of additional damage. The repairs completed by the tech are damage specific.
6. Paint Prep & Refinish
Once the technician completes the repairs the vehicle is moved to the Paint Department for paint prep and refinish. Prepping can include sanding and or taping the vehicle prior to the spraying process in the booth.
7. Reassembly and Clean Up
After paint the vehicle goes back to the Body Technician for reassembly and then to the detail department for light detail of the inside and washing of the outside as a courtesy.
8. Payment & Pick up
We will contact you upon completion. Payment of the deductible and/or insurance check is collected upon completion. All our labor and paint is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle regardless of the insurance company you selected for the repairs.
